Our Thoughtfully-Designed Curriculum

At Home From Home Nursery, we offer a well-rounded and holistic curriculum designed to nurture children’s development from birth to 5 years old, ensuring that each child receives the care and attention they need to flourish.

Guided by the EYFS framework, we focus on fostering growth across the seven key areas of learning, using a balanced mix of observation, assessment, and personalised learning plans.

Infant playing in sandbox sensory play

The experiences children enjoy each day form an important part of our curriculum. Through play, exploration and activities, children develop communication, courage, creativity and strength.

Children take part in activities such as woodwork, cooking, PE sessions and helicopter stories – developing problem-solving skills and collaboration through play. Outdoor learning is central to our approach with nature-based adventures, gardening and local outings helping children develop physical confidence and curiosity about the world around them.

Hedgehog Room (0-2 years)

The earliest years are precious. During this time we focus on secure attachments, sensory exploration and early communication - building the emotional foundations that allow babies to feel safe enough to explore their world.

We understand that babies need closeness, familiarity and trust before anything else. Before your child starts, we take time to learn about their home routine so that we can mirror it carefully and respectfully.

Spaces are designed for physical exploration - rolling, crawling, pulling up, balancing - while also offering cosy areas for snuggles and stories. Through natural materials and gentle role play, babies begin to explore cause and effect. Outdoor time and small outings allow even our youngest children to begin discovering the world around them.

Our key person approach is particularly important at this stage. Babies need to feel safe to truly thrive - and that sense of security is something we prioritise above all else.

Squirrel Room (2–3 years)

Toddlerhood at Home From Home is about independence, developing language and friendships. Our role is to gently support growing confidence while encouraging curiosity and self-expression.

Our toddlers are given freedom within safe boundaries. They explore loose parts, small world play and open-ended resources that develop fine motor skills and allow imagination to flourish. Art materials are accessible at child height, encouraging spontaneous creativity.

Our reading nooks are warm and inviting - especially during the winter months when Hygge is felt most strongly. Meanwhile, our gardens provide free-flow access throughout the day. Children plant in allotment areas, observe insects, explore textures and experience nature first-hand.

We follow children’s interests and scaffold their development gently - allowing confidence to build naturally.

Owls Room (3–5 years)

Through play-based learning, our pre-school children develop resilience, problem-solving skills and the confidence they need for a positive start at school.

They learn to serve themselves, to pour drinks, to try again, to ask questions, to lead conversations. Children move freely between indoor and outdoor environments to embrace the changing seasons. Woodland sessions encourage tree climbing, den building, and pond dipping. Mud kitchens inspire imagination. Role play mirrors real life.

We aim for children to leave us with:

A strong sense of self. Emotional resilience. Confidence. Curiosity.

We have good relationships with local schools to ensure smooth transitions and meaningful handovers.
